Dr. Koch joined the LR faculty in August 2011.
Dr. Koch is the program coordinator for the Exercise Sciences. His teaching load includes Exercise Physiology, Evaluation and Prescription, Clinical Exercise Physiology, and Directed Readings and Research. Prior to working at LR, he taught at Truman State University in Kirksville, MO. His research interests include the effect of exercise on immune function, and monitoring markers of muscle damage after exercise. In addition, he holds certifications as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a Level III (Regional) Coach for USA Weightlifting. He is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine, the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and USA Weightlifting.
Outside the classroom, Dr. Koch is a coach and participant in the sport of weightlifting. He has coached several athletes to reach the National Championships. In addition, he enjoys reading (mostly history and science fiction) and watching lots of TV and movies (mostly stuff with car chases and explosions).
